Our rifle courses are built around the modern semi-automatic sporting rifle platform — including AR-style rifles (ArmaLite design), AR variants, pistol-caliber carbines, and AK-style firearms. Led by instructors with extensive operational, tactical, competitive, and professional experience, our training takes you from basic familiarization to expert rifle operator through a clear, progressive curriculum. Every course emphasizes real-world skills and practical techniques so you can handle these firearms with proficiency, safety, and confidence.

Topics covered across courses may include:

  • Safe handling and fundamentals of rifle marksmanship

  • Loading, unloading, malfunctions, and immediate action drills

  • Proper stances, grip, and body mechanics for movement and accurate fire

  • Transitions between targets, reloads, and magazine management

  • Low-light and positional shooting techniques (where offered)

  • Movement mechanics and shooting on the move

  • Pistol-caliber carbine specific drills and controls

  • Fundamentals of maintenance and reliability checks

BASIC AR

(Includes “Others” and pistol-caliber carbines)

introductory course covers the fundamental function, safe operation, and basic maintenance of the modern semi-automatic sporting rifle platform — including AR-style rifles, variant “Others,” and pistol-caliber carbines.
Designed for new owners, the class explains how these rifles operate, basic ballistics, and safe handling practices. You’ll learn: Basic rifle operation, loading/unloading, and immediate action drills How to use and zero iron sights quickly and accurately Simple, reliable maintenance and care for AR-style platforms How to choose appropriate accessories and understand the different “Other” platforms Introductory marksmanship fundamentals for semi-automatic rifles Practical tips and fool-proof methods to operate and shoot the rifle effectively and efficiently The class blends short classroom instruction with live-fire range time. Each 3.0-hour session includes targets, classroom instruction, and range time. Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start. Prerequisite: None Attire: Wear comfortable clothing suitable for range work — a long-sleeve, crew-neck shirt and closed-toe footwear are recommended.

A brimmed cap is suggested. Equipment: Students are encouraged to bring their own AR-15, “Other,” or pistol-caliber carbine. Rental firearms may be available but must be reserved in advance. If using an Arsenal Defender LLC rental firearm, you must use ammunition purchased from Arsenal Defender LLC for that rental. Bring at least three (3) full magazines and 100 rounds of ammunition. Hearing and eye protection are required. If you don’t own them, hearing/eye protection packages are available for purchase through Arsenal Defender LLC at a discounted price. Waivers: If not already completed, please download and submit the required forms before your session if you prefer: General Release of Liability Waiver (required annually) Rental Firearm Use Waiver — must be completed on the day of training if using an Arsenal Defender LLC rental firearm.

INTERMEDIATE AR

(Includes “Others” and pistol-caliber carbines) Duration: 6.0 hours (two 3.0-hour sessions)

The Intermediate AR/Other program is a two-part, hands-on training series built on the fundamentals from the Basic AR course. As you progress through these sessions you’ll develop competence, confidence, and trust with the AR platform (and similar “Other” platforms and pistol-caliber carbines). Instruction is paced comfortably and informed by our staff’s law-enforcement, military, and operational experience — with an underlying focus on defending yourself and your family using safe and practical techniques.

INTERMEDIATE AR #1 — Reliability & Intro to Marksmanship

Duration: 3.0 hours

Prerequisite: Basic AR Focus: reliability, standardized loading/unloading/reloading procedures, and an introduction to marksmanship fundamentals (stance, body position, grip, trigger press, sight alignment).

The class uses demonstration, dry-fire, and live-fire drills to build safe, repeatable skills. Includes: targets, classroom instruction, and live-fire range time. Arrival: Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to class start. Attire: Long-sleeve crew-neck style shirt and closed-toe footwear; brimmed ball cap suggested. Equipment: Bring your AR-15, “Other,” or pistol-caliber carbine equipped with iron sights and a tactical sling. Rental firearms may be available if reserved in advance. Bring at least three (3) full magazines and 100 rounds of ammunition.
